CHITRAL: The transmission of Radio Pakistan, Chitral, remains suspended since December 24 last when its FM transmitter broke down as it was in bad condition and its output had decreased from 2,000 watts to only 200 watts.

An official of the radio station told this scribe that the FM transmitter of the station needed repair or replacement as it had fallen down, bringing the six hours daily transmissions to stop.

He said that the repaired (secondhand) transmitter of the medium wave had been installed in October 2016.

The radio station broadcasted programmes in three languages of Khowar (Chitrali), Urdu and Pashto apart from relaying the news bulletins and discussions on the national hookup.

NAZIMS DEMAND: The village nazims, including Ghulam Abdul Qadir (Denin-I), Shahabuddin (Denin-II), Shujauz Zaman (Gahiret) and Sher Ali (Seen), have demanded of the provincial government to upgrade the pay scale of village secretaries to BPS-14 from BPS-7 keeping in view the broad base of their job description and responsibilities. In a joint press statement issued here on Friday, they said that responsibilities of village secretaries included accounts keeping, supervision of development work, issuing of birth certificates, etc.
