GUJRAT: The district police on Sunday launched an online video-link complaint system, linking 23 police stations with the five sub-divisional police offices and the district police officer.

With launch of the system, the complainants could share their complaints with the senior police officers through video-link from their nearest police station, said DPO Jahanzeb Nazeer Khan while addressing the inaugural ceremony.

The ceremony was also attended by the PML-N lawmakers Nawabzada Haider Mehdi, Shabeer Kotla, Moin Nawaz Warraich and Mian Tariq Dinga, Gujrat Municipal Corporation Mayor Haji Nasir Mehmood, Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Ali Ansar and others.

Briefing the media, the DPO said the system would help save not only the complainants’ time and resources but also that of the police.

He said dedicated spaces had been provided at the police stations for the video-link facility where information technology wing’s staff would assist the complainants in contacting senior officers in the district.

He said it would be ensured that timings were fixed for the complainants to avail the facility.

The DPO said the facility had also been offered to the revenue department to contact officials posted in far-flung areas of the district.

He added that elected local government representatives could also use the system for official work.

He said the system had been launched in collaboration with the Gujrat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GTCCI). An official said to run the system web cameras and LED screens had been installed at the police station and offices of senior officials.

GTCCI president Ali Ansar and Mayor Haji Nasir also spoke on the occasion.
