GUJRANWALA: The Gujranwala Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education has been running without chairman for the last six months, since the retirement of Prof Muhammad Aslam Seikho in June last.

The board administration faces problems in connection with approval of annual and supplementary examinations results for intermediate and matriculation certificates.

The divisional commissioner is currently looking after the board matters as a stopgap arrangement.

Similarly, two seats of deputy directors of colleges were also vacant while more than 20 colleges in division are running without principals.

ELECTED: The by-election of Ghakkhar municipal committee chairman slot was held on Thursday.

PML-N aspirant Wasim Yaqoob Butt, backed by MNA Mian Tariq and former MPA Mian Mazher group, defeated by one vote same party nominee Zahid Inait Butt alias Tumma Butt backed by ruling party district president Mir Mazher Billo and MPA Chaudhary Ashraf Warriach.
