DERA GHAZI KHAN: A rally starting from Lahore to promote forestation of mountains was accorded a warm welcome when it arrived here on Monday.

The rally launched on Dec 9, the World Mountain Day, in the provincial capital by a private club, will conclude at Fort Munro, a hill station in Sulaiman range.

It was received here by officials of the district administration and citizens at the DG Khan Arts Council.

Mukaram Tareen, who led the rally told the media that its basic aim was to create awareness about tourism, forestation and preservation of ecology.

He added that the rally participants would set up their camps on the heights of Fort Munro to stress the need for plantation on the mountains to save the area’s ecology and create a better environment for the coming generations.
