PESHAWAR: A large number of students participated in the education expo of National Youth Carnival here on Monday to seek guidance for building their career.

About 30 consultants set up stalls at the education expo to provide guidelines to the participating students. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, who was chief guest on the occasion, formally inaugurated the education expo.

He said that with a focus on career guidance programme that included free psychometric testing followed by personal counseling and several other enrichment and outreach programme, the expo offered great opportunities under one roof.

He thanked the multi-national and international firms for setting up stalls at the expo to educate the youth.

Asad Qaiser says delegates from Saarc countries to be invited to next National Youth Carnival

Mr Qaiser termed the event the biggest initiative of provincial youth ministry to inform students about different education opportunities including scholarship, internship and other activities.

He said that the expo would help students to get training and scholarship besides providing employment opportunities to the youth at the venue. He said that National Youth Carnival united the youth of the country at one platform. It would give a message of peace to the world, he said. He added that next National Youth Carnival would be held at international level and delegates from Saarc countries would also be part of it.

Mr Qaiser said youth were the first priority of the government as militancy had badly affected the province. “Now with the bravery of the people along with army normalcy has been restored,” he said. He also expressed the pleasure that more than 17 seminaries were part of the carnival in different events and more than 50 per cent girls from across the country participated in it.

Mr Qaiser said that government completed century of the construction of the new playgrounds as desired by PTI chief Imran Khan. He said that Rs1.5 billion was allocated to renovate Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium according to international standard.

He said owing to limited space in state-run universities and other academic and vocational institutes, many students with good grades also look for overseas placements every year so such expo would help them in that connection.

“Our objective is very clear. We want to serve the community. The expo is also an ideal platform for school-leavers, fresh graduates and job seekers to meet and discuss current issues pertaining to higher education and career opportunities in the market. Job seekers may get the chance to be hired on the spot at the expo,” said Mr Qaiser.

Provincial Minister for Sports Mehmood Khan, Youth, Sports and Tourism Secretary Tariq Khan, Youth Director General Asfandyar Khan Khattak, Sports Director General Junaid Khan, renowned singer Muni Begum, famous artists Tauqeer Nasir, Mishi Khan, Uruj Khan, Abid Ali and Ijaz Multani were also present on the occasion.
