HYDERABAD: A senior teacher of Sindh University came under attack by two armed motorcyclists on Bolhari road near Kotri on Saturday.

Prof Dr Rafiq Ahmed Memon, director of SU’s English department, was going in his car to the university’s Thatta campus along with a friend when the motorcyclists fired shots at him but luckily, both the teacher and his friend remained unhurt.

Jamshoro SSP Irfan Bahadur said the motorcyclists were wearing helmets and they fled after firing shots. A bullet hit the car’s windscreen, he said.

SU Vice Chancellor Dr Fateh Mohammad Burfat condemned the incident and demanded immediate arrest of the assailants.

Sindh University Teachers Association president Dr Arfana Mallah, who arrived at Kotri police station along with a large number of university teachers while Dr Memon lodged a case, demanded the culprits be arrested within 72 hours and the SU administration act against troublemakers without further delay.
