KARACHI: A man allegedly gunned down his estranged wife and a stepdaughter and wounded another stepdaughter before shooting himself to death over some domestic dispute in the Ilyas Goth area of Korangi on Wednesday morning, Ibrahim Hyderi police said.

They added that the bullet-riddled bodies of Ali, 45, his wife Surayya, 45, and his stepdaughter Ayesha, 15, were found in their home at around 5.30am.

The police said that they received information about the bodies on Madadgar-15. The door of the home was locked from inside. The police broke open the door and found the three bodies lying there. Another daughter, Rida, 11, was found wounded.

The dead and wounded were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities. According to Malir SSP Rao Anwar Ahmed, the man shot dead his family members and later committed suicide after some family dispute.

He said that it was the second marriage of Surayya. She had filed an application before court for khula which was pending, said the SSP.

A police officer of the Ibrahim Hyderi police station told Dawn that Ali was a rickshaw driver. He had married Surayya after the death of her first husband, Safdar, a few years ago. The officer said the victim woman had two daughters from her first husband who were living with her. She had no child from her second husband.

Around six months ago, she had filed an application before court for khula.
