RAWALPINDI, Aug 23: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) No-1 on Saturday dismissed a case filed against an official of forest department and his brother on charges of killing a man inside a court and critically injuring another after both the parties involved in the case reached an out-of-court settlement.

The judge, Manzoor Ahmed Mirza, dismissed the case against Deputy Forest Officer (DFO) Imdad Hussain and his younger brother, Shafqat Ijaz, after receiving the reconciliation papers from the defence and prosecution lawyers on behalf of both the parties.

The DFO and his brother had shot dead a councillor, Mukhtar Ahmed, and critically wounded another person, Bakhtawar, inside the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Malik Akram Awan a few months ago.

Imdad Hussain and Shafqat were present in the court during the hearing of a case related to the death of their brother, who was suspected to have been killed by Mukhtar Ahmed.

Meanwhile, Judicial Magistrate Akram Bhatti sent a woman, Muqaddas Bibi, to Darul Aman after she contended that she did not want to live with her husband, who had allegedly tortured her and had also threatened to kill her. Similarly, the district and sessions judge, Dost Mohammad Khemta, awarded three-month rigorous imprisonment to a drug trafficker.
