Eight people including three children died while 19 others were injured in a road accident on Waghan road on Malghani turning point near Larkana on Tuesday night, police said.

According to Larkana Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kashif Ali Teepu, the bus that was on its way to Larkana overturned in a ditch when the driver lost control while trying to save a motorcyclist who was coming from the opposite direction.

The bus was carrying members of the Brohi community who were returning to Larkana from Sehwan.

The DC said that five members of the Brohi community along with the motorcyclist, his wife and a child, were killed in the accident. However, it was not clear yet whether the bus driver survived the accident.

The Larkana DC said the dead and the injured were shifted to Chandka Medical Hospital in Larkana.

The Brohi community members had gone on a religious trip to the shrine in the Sehwan area.

The deceased were identified as Amjad Ali, Haider Ali, Sanaullah, Danish, Khaleel Ahmed, Husna and Inayatullah.

Those who are injured include Jahanzeb, Zareena, Nusrat, Noor Bano, Rahman, Shahzadi, Nazir Ali, Noor Jahan, Benazir, Yasir Ali and Noor Bibi.

An official from Larkana said that the median on the Larkana circular bypass was supposed to be closed through a jersey barrier by National Highway Authority (NHA) but it hadn't been done. This median is 27 kilometre long strip that now serves as a ditch and remains highly dangerous for commuters and vehicular traffic.
