KARACHI: Many parts of Sindh continued to experience the scorching heat on Monday owing to the weather system in the Arabian Sea, with heatwave conditions to continue for a few more days, according to the Met Office.

Responding to Dawn, a Met official said that the Thar desert town of Chhor, located in the south-eastern tip of the province, continued to remain the hottest place in Sindh for the third day with mercury rising on the scale slightly with each passing day. He said that the maximum temperature recorded in Chhor on Monday was 42.7 degrees Celsius — approximately 0.2 degrees Celsius higher than that of Sunday.

He said that Karachi, however, was experiencing less of the impact of the heatwave in the past couple of days and while the daytime temperatures remained almost the same on Sunday and Monday, Sunday/Monday night was slightly cooler than the previous night.

He said that the maximum temperature recorded in the provincial capital on Monday was 38.2 degrees Celsius and minimum temperature was 23.2 degrees Celsius. Humidity — amount of moisture in the atmosphere — during early Monday morning was 88 per cent while it came down to 28 per cent during the evening.

He said that hot and dry weather was expected in the metropolis on Tuesday and maximum temperature was expected to remain between 39 and 41 degrees Celsius.
