GWADAR: Information Secretary of the National Party (NP) Jan Buledi survived an armed attack on Wednesday while his son Keeya Buledi, nephew Asif and Levies guard Zahid received injuries. Mr Buledi is a former spokesman for the provincial government.

Mr Buledi, his son and nephew were going to Turbat from his hometown Buleda when their vehicle came under fire.

“Jan Buledi escaped the firing,” Levies officials said, adding that he was safe and sound. Official sources said that the attackers were riding a motorbike and opened fire on Mr Buledi’s vehicle near Menaz.

Attackers fled the scene when Levies guard returned fire, the deputy commissioner of Kech said. Levies and Frontier Corps personnel shifted the injured to hospital.

Hospital sources said that Mr Buledi’s son was shifted to Turbat as he had received serious injuries.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. However, a search operation had been launched to trace the attackers.
