PAKISTAN has been facing terrorism and radicalisation for the last two decades. Apart from terrorism, it has been our daily routine to hear or read about different types of crime news on television and in newspapers.
In the north of Pakistan and in the easternmost part of Gilgit Baltistan there is a district named ‘Ghanche’, with a population of 88,366 (1998 census) with an area of 4,052 square kilometres.
This district is popular for its peaceful environment, gigantic peaks covered with snow and hospitable people. It is rather strange to know in Pakistan that there is no need of any police and other law-enforcement agencies in this area because people here are honest and civilised.
Jails are empty and forces have no work. The crime rate has been zero for the last 20 years, though the media has failed to show this soft image of Pakistan.
