Four girls drown

GWADAR: Four young girls drowned while bathing in a seasonal stream in the Hoshab area of Kech district on Saturday.

Official sources said that five girls — their ages between six and ten — were bathing in the seasonal Katek stream when they were swept into deep waters. Four of them drowned while the fifth one was rescued by the area people.

“They died while trying to save each other,” Levies officials said.

Levies and local people recovered the bodies. The rescued girl was taken to a nearby health facility.

The deceased included Gul Afroz, daughter of Allah Dad; Durnaz, d/o Muhammad Azeem and Kargaz, d/o Abdul Hakim. The identity of the fourth girl could not be known.

Bodies were handed over to relatives after autopsy.
