THE WEEK THAT WAS

Yeh Meri Zindagi Hai | Filmazia, Fri-Sat 7.30pm

Finally, a musical drama for younger audiences! Written by Eshah Shakeel, an NCA graduate in filmmaking, and directed by Ameer Hamza Asif and Murtaza Ali Shah, [the duo who did the video of Adeel Sultan’s Bebasi], the serial has a young cast. Shot mostly at the Beaconhouse National University in Lahore, the story is about young people studying for a music degree while the somewhat zany portrayal of youth interests and issues suggest that the production team is pretty clued in.

Geo Subha Pakistan | Geo TV, Weekdays 9.00-11.30am

Shaista Lodhi is back with a new morning show. After a break, a morning show stint at Hum Sitaray’s Sitaray Ki Subha and some rather convincing histrionics in Geo TV’s Khan and ARY’s Waada, Shaista looks great and way more comfortable and confident than ever. She also, in her own way, adds pizzazz to the show.

What to watch out for

Imam Zamin | TVOne, Monday 8.00pm

Here’s a riveting story written by Zafar Mairaj and directed by Shahid Zahoor set against the backdrop of security issues in Karachi amidst terrorist attacks in the country. A family migrates to Canada to provide a better future to the kids but little do they know what awaits them when their elderly parents let a room to a female paying guest and a love triangle develops between the lady tenant, the hubby who returns to work in Pakistan and the wife who is with the kids in Canada. It’s refreshing to see Noman Aijaz playing a role more his age, Iffat Omar as his wife, the gorgeous Seher Afzal as the tenant and Shakeel and Sajida Syed as the endearing, elderly couple.
