LARKANA: Two litigants were gunned down by unknown assailants riding motorcycles on Raza Shah Kabir Road within the jurisdiction of the Civil Lines police station on Saturday.

DSP Yar Mohammed Rind told Dawn that Munawwar Ali Mirani, 45, died on the spot and his companion Waheed Junejo was rushed to the Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH), where he succumbed to his wounds. The victims were returning from a court hearing when they were ambushed.

The double murder was attributed to an old feud between two rival groups of the Mirani clan that has claimed 27 lives since 1975. The dispute pertains to the ownership of a piece of land and fish pond in Fatehpur village situated some eight kilometres from Larkana along Larkana-Ratodero Road, sources said.

The area police said a hunt for the killers was on as raids were being conducted on their suspected hideouts.
