KOHAT: The tehsil councillors alliance has expressed its disappointment over the release of meagre funds by the provincial government and its interference in financial matters of the tehsil council.

Speaking at a press conference at the residence of alliance head councillor Zulfiqar Shah here on Thursday, tehsil nazim Malik Taimoor said that they would take appropriate legal and constitutional measures against meddling by the provincial government in the council’s affairs.

He claimed that funds sent by the provincial government under the annual development programme had resulted in less allocations for the elected representatives to spend in their constituencies. Mr Taimoor termed the interference as illegal where councillors had been deprived of their rights.

The participants termed the Turkish water supply and sanitation company a white elephant, saying it had failed to ensure cleanliness and supply of water in the city.

They said that more commercial buildings and shops would be constructed on the land owned by TMA for increasing its revenue.

PACKAGE SOUGHT: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa member in the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Rasheed Ahmed Paracha has demanded early release of special package for the southern KP region by the Federal Board of Revenue.

According to a statement issued here on Thursday, Mr Paracha presided over a meeting which discussed the problems being faced by the business community.

The participants rejected the LNG formula for the local industries and demanded gas connections on priority basis. They said that half of the southern KP lacked infrastructure, which was impeding the development process.

They also demanded small loan schemes and establishment of technical centres for producing skilled labour to bring prosperity among the tribesmen and other people of the southern districts.

PROTEST: The Muttahida Qaumi Mahaz staged a protest here on Thursday against the US administration for ignoring Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.

Participants of the rally, led by the Mahaz chairman Hadi Burhan, also chanted slogans against US President Donald Trump for his anti-Pakistan hatred speech a few days ago while announcing his Afghanistan policy.
