KARACHI: Nishtar Club and One Unit Club chalked up convincing victories over their respective opponents in the Independence Day basketball tournament at the Arambagh floodlit court on Wednesday.

Nishtar Club taught the newly-formed Munawwar Abbasi Club a lesson while registering 49-19 victory in group B clash.

The winners led 24-13 at the half time.

Hamza top scored with a tally of 16 points and was followed by Talha Amjad Ali 10 and Asad eight for the winners.

The losers, who are in a process of learning, scored through Saad five, Maaz and Hassan four points apiece.

Earlier, One Unit Club carved out a 66-48 victory over Karachi Colts to post their first victory.

The match fluctuated in the second and fourth quarters when the losers fought courageously and even won the last quarter.

Nehal and Kashif stood tall equally sharing 32 points amongst themselves while Talal scored 12 for the winners.

Tehamy, Safeer and Taimur contributed 14, 12 and eight points respectively for the losers.
