LAHORE: Punjab Colours beat Punjab Whites 1-0 in the final of the 5th National Women Under-18 Hockey Championships at the National Hockey Stadium here on Friday.

It was a close match as Whites fought hard until the final whistle. But the solitary goal netted by Faiqa Riaz in the third minute made the difference and helped Colours retain the title.

The winners managed to maintain the slim lead till the last minute mainly because of strong defence.

Earlier, Pakistan Boards also faced a tough opposition from Islamabad to win the third place match by low margin of 1-0. Seema fired the solitary goal.

All the individual prizes were won by the two teams of Punjab. While Sharika Sarwar of Whites was declared the best player of the tournament, Anmol Arshad and Hamra Latif of Colours earned the honours of being the best goalkeeper and top scorer of the event.
