KARACHI: The Karachi Basketball Association will celebrate the Independence Day by staging a floodlit tournament at the famous Arambagh court from Aug 12-20.

The formal opening of the event, will however, take place on Aug 14 (Monday).

The KBA has raised a new, young team in the name of Munawwar Abbasi Club that will make its debut in the event.

According to the draws, eight teams will compete for honours in the annual competition which will be played on round robin league. The teams have been divided into two groups.

Groups:

A: Bounce Club, Askari Alphas, One Unit Club, Karachi Colts.

B: Nishtar Club, Arambagh Club, Munawwar Abbasi Club, Malir Trojans.

Saturday’s fixtures: Arambagh Club v Munawwar Abbasi Club at 7.30pm; Askari Alphas v Karachi Colts at 8.30pm.
