SIALKOT: Torrential rain inundated roads and low-lying areas of the city on Saturday.

Following the downpour, water accumulated in streets and roads of Model Town, Mag Town, Muslim Town, Pakka Garha, Nishat Park, Pooran Nagar, Pak Pura, People’s Colony, Small Industrial Estate Sialkot, Kashmir Road, Defence Road, Kutchery Road, Paris Road, Abbot Road, Jail Road, Railway Road, and other areras.

The rain also exposed poor drainage at the railway station, district jail and the roads leading to the Sialkot International Airport.

In many residential areas the sewerage system also collapsed, causing a great inconvenience for the residents.

Because of water accumulation on roads, many cars, auto-rickshaws, motorcycles were found stuck there. The rainwater mixed with sewage also entered houses and factories in the Small Industrial Estate.

PROBE: The acting deputy commissioner has ordered a probe into the local Trauma Centre CT scan machine developing fault.

The only CT scan machine at the Government Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital’s Trauma Centre has been lying out of ordered for the last two weeks.

Because of the faulty machine, the patients were forced to get their CT scans conducted from private laboratories that charged them heavily.

On receiving complaints, acting Deputy Commissioner Dr Umer Sher Chattha visited the Trauma Centre and ordered a probe into the alleged negligent of the officials responsible for handling the machine.

He also ordered repair of the machine at the earliest.
