Sugar testing

Published July 17, 2017

THESE days almost all medical stores offer sugar-testing at an affordable price. Many people who can’t purchase their own glucometer tend to get it tested for Rs 40.

Although I own a glucometer and check my blood sugar parameters regularily, sometimes I deem it pertinent to get it checked at a medical store as they use a different type of glucometer and so I have an idea whether my meter is working perfectly or not.

I noticed that the pricker they use for drawing blood contains small stains of blood at the hole from where the needle passes, which makes it lethal for subsequent visitors as it could inject many other harmful germs into his blood, making him vulnerable to many diseases.

The health department should strictly instruct medical stores to train their employees, especially those who deal with such a sensitive task, to take intensive care.
