Two members of the joint investigation team (JIT) are enemies of Nawaz Sharif, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Affairs Asif Kirmani alleged on Saturday.

Not refraining from naming the JIT members, Kirmani said that "everyone knows where the sympathies of Amer Aziz and Bilal Rasool lie."

"Everyone knows of the romantic relationship between the Imran Khan and the JIT," Kirmani further accused, adding that the former was trying to come to power with support from the latter.

It is pertinent to mention that Amer Aziz is representing the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) while Bilal Rasool is the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) representative in the JIT probing Sharif family's business dealings abroad.

Taking a jab at the selection process of the JIT, Kirmani asked if selecting the "enemies" of Sharif family was a just act or not.

It should be mentioned that the members of the JIT were handpicked by the Supreme Court judges who penned the majority verdict in the Panamagate case after state institutions sent names of their preferred representatives.

Repeating the PML-N stance on the former Qatari prime minister's statement, Kirmani said that the JIT report will remain incomplete without his statement as he was the main witness in the case, adding that "the people will reject such an incomplete report."

He also said that taking his [former Qatari prime minister's] statement in Qatar would not be an anomaly as American journalist and lobbyist Mark Seigel's statement was taken under similar circumstances while he remained in the US.
