The International Cricket Council (ICC) has approved Iram Javed as Bismah Maroof's replacement following the latter injuring her right hand in the game against England on Wednesday.
In a major blow to the Pakistan women's team, Bismah Maroof had injured her right hand while fielding against England. She was ruled out for the rest of the tournament and Pakistan had requested Iram Javed to serve as her replacement.
Accepting Pakistan's request, the Women's World Cup event technical committee has approved Pakistan's request. Iram is likely to join the team before Pakistan face arch-rivals India on Sunday.
Maroof, a batting all-rounder, is one of the most experienced players in Pakistan side and also captains the T20 squad. Commenting on her injury, pacer Asmavia Iqbal had said that Pakistan missed Maroof in their chase against England.
Iram Javed has represented Pakistan in seven One-day Internationals (ODIs) and 19 T20s.
