SAHIWAL: The Sahiwal-Arifwala road remained blocked for two hours because of protest demonstrations after a scuffle between students and bus drivers and conductors.

It is said the scuffle started between students and a bus conductor in morning for not stopping the bus near Chak 115/9-L. Eyewitness said around 20 students gathered and blocked the road. They thrashed a conductor, Babar, with sticks, punches and kicks and escaped from the scene.

After the students dispersed, the bus drivers and conductors blocked the road for all kinds of traffic at the Kameer bus stop and demanded arrest of the students.

The Kameer stationhouse officer held talks with the protesters but the deadlock continued for two hours. Later, on the assurance of the SHO that the main culprits would be arrested by tomorrow, the demonstrators ended their protest. Kameer police registered a case against 10 unidentified students.
