DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Students of private schools secured top three positions in the results of Secondary School Certificate annual examinations, 2017, announced by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Dera Ismail Khan, here on Wednesday. The pass percentage remained at 63.3 per cent.

The result was announced at a ceremony held in Mufti Mehmood Public School and College where Dera vision commissioner Dr Nazir Akthar Warriach was the chief guest and gave away prizes to top 20 position holders of various educational institutions affiliated with the board.

Private educational institutions dominated the list of top 20 position holders with Hafiz Atta of Shan Middle High School Paharpur clinching overall first position by securing 1,042 marks out of total 1,100. Mohammad Shahbaz of Al-Abbas Science School & College Dhakki grabbed second position, obtaining 1,026 marks.

Farrukh Bakash of City Science School and Muqdas Aiman of Qurtaba School & College shared the third position securing 1,024 marks.

The chief guest awarded cash prize of Rs50,000 to first position holder, Rs45,000 to second and Rs40,000 to each student who shared third position.

Speaking on the occasion, the commissioner congratulated the students on securing top positions and urged them to focus more on their studies.

He advised students to take part in healthy extracurricular activities for their healthy personality development and to gear up for future challenges.

He also lauded the private sector educational institutions saying their contribution towards promotion of quality education would go a long way in tackling the present day challenges.
