LONDON: Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman, who has earned praise after making his ODI debut against South Africa in Champions Trophy, has served in Pakistan Navy as sailor and left in 2013.

Fakhar has proved to be a decisive batsman in Pakistan’s unpredictable batting order, mainly by scoring half-centuries against Sri Lanka and England.

In Wednesday’s match against England, he scored 57, prompting Pakistan to Champions Trophy final with a dominant eight-wicket win over England in Cardiff.

He earned praise of former cricketing greats Stephen Fleming and Michael Vaughan.
