Teen allegedly drugged and gang-raped in Ghotki

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped, drugged and gang-raped by at least five persons in village Khambr near Ubauro town in Sindh's Ghotki district on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters, Liakat Khambro, the girl's brother, alleged that the victim was abducted by five men who drugged and gang-raped her in a house away from their village.

He also claimed that after raping her, the men disposed off the unconscious girl's body outside their home and fled.

The girl was rushed to Ubauro Taluka hospital, where initial medical check-up confirmed the sexual assault on the girl, police said.

Khambro registered a First Investigation Report (FIR) against five named suspects, including Wahid Bux Kori, Mujahid Hussain Kori, Qurban Ali Kosh, Shabir Hussain Chahchar and Allah Dito Chachar at Kumbhra police station late Thursday night.

District Superintendent Police Uburo Abdul Haq Bhutto, while speaking to local journalists, claimed that raids were being conducted to arrest all accused nominated in the FIR.

Confirming the incident, Station House Officer Khambra Darya Khan told Dawn that some of the accused had been arrested.

Sindh Home Minister Suhail Anwer Sial and Inspector General Sindh AD Khowaja took notice of the incident.

The IG Sindh directed Senior Superintendent Police Ghotki Masood Bangash to ensure that the girl and her family are provided full protection and justice is ensured in the case.

I guarantee that nothing will happen to the suspects incidents like this happen a lot here in Gujrat but no one is punished I have myself witnessed many cases unless you are also a Chaudhry nothing will happen to the suspects.

Lawlessness are at large in sindh. Police role is dubious. This type of incidents required action in calculated time for which almost funds are needed which is not being provided to SHOs. FIR is registered but sections included against accused still are not known. Provincial home minister and IGP sindh taken notice of the incident and also directed SSP Gothki for providing protection to the family but it has not been asked from the police for update of the case. Such incidents for police are of routine. To reach conclusion for police or arrest to culprits are not rocket science but easy to much but delaying tactics are adopted in arresting of accused to increase demand by police. Every one is well aware that often poor are victim of such incident, if timely justices is provided to all, poverty could definitely be eliminated resultant such sort of incident will automatically be ended, but no one seems to this and every one whether bureaucrat or politician is busy in time killing.
