LAHORE: Hina Amin from Gujranwala has won the All Punjab Painting Competition held under the Chief Minister Talent Hunt Programme, carrying a cash prize worth Rs0.5m and a shield.

The contest, titled Bano Pakistan Ki Pehchan, was organised at the City Heritage Museum, The Mall, by the Punjab Council of Arts and Information and Culture Department on Friday.

The second and third positions were also won by females. Beenish Arslan from Gujranwala got the second position worth Rs0.3m plus a shield and Lubna Zulfiqar from Sahiwal bagged the third position which carried Rs100,000 cash prize/shield.

The competition went well; however, unavailability of any air conditioners or chillers left the participating artists and their parents in great discomfort.

There were only ceiling fans which were insufficient to compete with the scorching temperature of the provincial metropolis on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Additional Secretary Culture Saman Rai announced that the department would compile a catalogue of all the artworks produced by the participants.

Ten consolation prizes worth Rs30,000 each were given to Asma from Rawalpindi, Muhammad Arshad from Gujranwala, Alina from Rawalpindi, Saeeda Bushra from Multan, Zainab from Sahiwal, Iqra from Multan, Nadia Mirza from Lahore and Asifa Jabeen from Rawalpindi. The awards and shields were given by Minister for Information and Culture Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman.
