LAHORE: The Sasti Roti Authority is working till today though the project itself had been shelved during the previous tenure of Shahbaz government.

The fact surfaced when Public Accounts Committee of the Punjab Assembly took up audit paras pertaining to the Sasti Roti Scheme here on Wednesday.

Led by opposition leader Mahmoodur Rashid the “shocked” committee members conveyed their displeasure to the industries department secretary and sought a complete report within 30 days on monthly expenses being incurred on the Sasti Roti Authority.

The meeting also noted that financial irregularities were committed during purchase of furniture and office accessories when the Sasti Roti scheme was being launched.

The industries secretary was asked to come up with a report on [the irregularities] within two months.
