A woman was killed in Karachi, allegedly for 'honour', by her father and brother who had 'suspicions about her character', police told DawnNews on Monday.

Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) City Adeel Hussain said the victim's family had initially attempted to cover up her death, claiming she committed suicide by hanging herself early Monday morning in her home in the Kemari area.

After a post-mortem examination, however, police took her brother, Nabeel, and father, Ghulam Nabi, into custody, after which they confessed to strangling her to death over 'suspicions about her character', the SSP said.

Further investigation into the murder is underway, police added.
