Dust pollution

Published April 24, 2017

WORK on several development projects in Karachi is in progress. Although these projects are good for the country’s economic progress, they are causing pollution, leading to severe health problems.

All construction sites generate high levels of dust, which is classified as PM10 — particulate matter less than 10 microns in diameter.

Research has shown that it penetrates deeply into lungs and causes a wide range of health issues, including respiratory diseases like asthma, bronchitis and even cancer.

This is a serious problem whch is badly affecting the people’s health. The government should expedite these development projects to eliminate dust pollution.
