QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Secretary Shoaib Mir has cancelled deputation and leaves of 29 senior doctors working in various NGOs and other institutions with immediate effect.

According to official sources, the decision was taken in view of shortage of doctors in the province as medical practitioners — particularly lady doctors were not available in most areas of the region.

“They were posted to far-flung areas where doctors were not available,” a senior official of the provincial government told Dawn on Friday.

“Around 70 to 100 doctors who are working in other institutions on deputation will come back in the coming days,” he added.
