KARACHI, July 30: The Sindh High Court Bar Association demanded on Wednesday that representatives of the Sialkot Bar Association should be associated with any inquiry held into the tragic jail incident that claimed lives of three judicial officers.

The association convened an emergency general body meeting under the presidentship of Muneer A. Malik to express its grief over the July 25 incident and conveyed its condolences to the bereaved families.

A resolution adopted by the meeting, according to a press release issued by the SHCBA secretary, Yawar Faruqui, said: “This meeting is shocked at the failure of the jail authorities to prevent smuggling of firearms into the Sialkot jail and demands that the jail authorities be taken to task. Representatives of the Sialkot Bar Association should be associated with the inquiry to foil any attempt by the police or jail authorities to cover up their ineptitude. “The association demands that the families of the innocent victims should adequately be compensated and the guilty brought to book without delay.”
