LAHORE: The PPP top leadership has contacted the Khosa tribe elders, inviting disgruntled PML-N leader Sirdar Zulfiqar Khosa to join the party, who has “no such plans”.
As former president Asif Ali Zardari is in Lahore, the PPP has accelerated its efforts to woo the disgruntled leaders of both of its main rivals -- the PML-N and the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).
PPP Information Secretary Chaudhry Manzoor claimed on Sunday that a number of leaders from other parties wanted to join the PPP. Ironically, its the PPP that has so far lost some of its stalwarts to other parties, including Shah Mehmoood Qureshi and Raja Riaz (both joining the PTI).
Talking to Dawn, Zulfiqar Khosa said: “The PPP top leaders have contacted the the Khosa tribe elders and requested them to arrange their (PPP leaders’) meeting with me.” He, however, said he had no such plans to join the PPP.
Meanwhile, Mr Zardari held a meeting with the office-bearers of Punjab chapter of the party and discussed the arrest and release of Sharjeel Memon by NAB, besides other matters.
