DERA MURAD JAMALI: A woman pilgrim was killed and six other people were injured during a baton charge by police at the shrine of Pir Rakhal Shah of Fatehpur in Jhal Magsi on Tuesday.

Sources said that at the conclusion of the three-day Urs at the shrine the local administration had asked pilgrims to vacate the shrine due to security reasons. But some people who had come from other towns stayed at the shrine due to non-availability of transport.

They said after some warnings the police used force against people who were still inside the shrine.

After the incident, people of the area held a demonstration against the police.

Jhal Magsi Deputy Commissioner retired Captain Mohammad Wasim and DPO Sikandar Ali held negotiations with the custodian of the shrine, Syed Sarfarz Shah, after which the protesters dispersed.
