Law enforcement agencies in Balochistan received 96 threat alerts related to terrorism over the last two months, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Police Abdul Razzaq Cheema revealed on Wednesday.

"In Quetta alone, we have received 40 threat alerts," the DIG said, as he addressed a press conference in Quetta on Wednesday.

The threat level remained high across Balochistan and the police remained on high alert to avert any terror act, Cheema added.

The DIG said 71 suspects were arrested during 52 intelligence-based operations in the province.

Cheema further informed that 753 illegal immigrants and 92 proclaimed offenders were arrested by police during various raids in Quetta.

Law enforcement agencies launched a crack-down against illegal immigrants in the aftermath of repeated acts of terrorism in the country.

Cheema said operations are being conducted under Operation Raddul Fasad and scores of suspects have been apprehended in Balochistan.

"We are trying to ensure coordination among all law enforcement agencies," he said.

He informed that during three raids conducted by police and frontier corps five terrorists were killed since January this year. A large catche of arms and ammunition was also recovered from their possession.
