ISLAMABAD, July 24: Minister for Tourism, Culture and Youth Affairs Rais Munir Ahmad has said facilities will be provided to the private sector to promote tourism in the country.

Speaking at a meeting, held here on Thursday for enhancing the scope of tourism in the country, the minister said Pakistan had great potential for tourism industry owing to its rich scenic beauty including mountains, plateaus and deserts.

He said country’s law and order situation was satisfactory to attract a large number of foreign tourists. For the convenience of tourists, the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) is running 27 motels and three restaurants in the country, he added.

He stressed for the need of setting up more motels in the areas with utmost attraction for the tourists and emphasized on providing facilities to the tourists in the existing motels.

He asked the PTDC to enhance the capacity of its marketing sector so as to attract tourists from China, Middle East, Korea, Japan and other countries.—APP
