Iranian ambassador calls on Army chief

Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan Mehdi Honardoost on Saturday called on the Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa today to discuss matters of regional security and mutual interest.

Ambassador Honardoost acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan Army's contributions to regional peace and stability and expressed his appreciation for Operation Raddul Fasaad, a statement issued by the military's media wing said.

While thanking the Ambassador, Gen Bajwa said Pakistan Army "greatly values the historical relationship between the two brotherly countries which can never be compromised on any cost", Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

He also said that enhanced military-to-military cooperation between the two countries will have a positive impact on regional peace and stability.

The world is converging to Pakistan. There are more and more thinkers today even in India advising Indian government to do the same. Of course they won't listen. Doesn't matter to Pakistan anyway.

I am amazed why there is no solution for India And Pakistan rift. There should be some win win solution for both countries. There are many think tanks in both countries who can work together to find out win win solution instead of destroying each other.

Iran is key player in regional security. Good relations with Iran can force Afghanistan to rethink its mad policy to the countries in the region. Economically Oil rich Iran can help to fulfill the needs of energy starved Pakistan and door to Europe via Turkey. Pakistan, Iran and Turkey and you are in Europe and all of these countries are stable. It is high time to make Iran as door to Europe and Central Asia than to rely on Afghanistan which always stand with the wrong people at the right time of history

@Nomi Goraya I totally agree with your comments Pakistan should have learnt from history Afghans never favoured Pakistan in fact Afghanistan was the only country in UN who voted against the Pakistan on the other hand Iran was the first country who recognized the Pakistan as an independent country and they supported us in all our wars with India contrary to Afghanistan who always stood with our enemies despite enjoying so many concessions from Pakistan

@Nomi Goraya you are 100% correct. we should have strong and cordial relations with iran which is our next door. We tried to have good relations with india and afghanistan too but india is too busy counting in how many ways it's better than Pakistan as well as prompting afghanistan to rise against Pakistan. but this animosity will neither be successful nor give any benefit to india and afghanistan.

We have signed a gas pipeline deal with iran but we have not implemented it. Iran has built the pipeline on there side of the border but we have not.Iran has offered us 1000 mv of electricity many times but we have given no response. Why do we do this to are neighbour

Afghanistan and especially Iraq is now comparatively much stable due to Iranian support to the Iraqi people and they valued Iranian support very much please visit Iraq and you will see yourself how respectfully Iraqi people treat Iranians as compare to other nations it was Saudi Arabia who along with America imposed war on Iraq and then sent thousands of terrorists to destroy remaining Iraq

@SARA But Afghans can be trusted with all open history of hate and betrayals or UAE and KSA like countries who used us and then left us alone to clean all the mess. It is only mindset like communism is enemy of religion while capitalism is as per Islamic norms like USA is friends and Russia is enemy. We have to change this mindset Pakistan and Iran have common goal at this moment that is war against Afghan supported and KSA funded IS which is growing all strong just across the borders of both countries. Time has changed with Iran directly and Pakistan indirectly suffering at hands of USA it is high time to work with IRAN, China and Russia for security and stability of this region before it is too late

Iran was once one of the closest allies of Paksitan. During the wars with India, all PIA's assets were sent to Tehran and Shah of Iran at that time also gave millions of gallons of fuel to Pakistan, during the 1971 war. And then we adopted policies which breached trust and undermined the goodwill with this great neighbour of ours.
