LAHORE: There will be no load shedding in the the entire service area of the Lahore Electric Supply Company on Saturday and Sunday due to the PSL final and subsequent security arrangements.

Officials say since the Qadhafi Stadium’s floodlights and other electric appliances consume less than 1MW of electricity, special arrangements have been made to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply through Lesco’s system and standby generators.

“There will be zero load shedding on March 4 and 5 in all Lesco service areas including Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura and Nankana districts,” Lesco’s chief executive officer Syed Wajid Ali Kazmi told Dawn on Thursday.

Mr Kazmi said the stadium was being supplied electricity through Garden Town and Shadman feeders. He said continuous electricity supply would be ensured in surrounding localities of the venue to avoid any sort of untoward incident.

“The Lesco management has also ordered its entire operational staff in Lahore and other districts to remain present on duty,” he said.

On the other hand, the Sui Northern gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) temporarily disconnected gas supply to even those restaurants situated within premises of the Nishtar Complex in general and outside Qadhafi Stadium in particular. These outlets have already been closed till the final match.

According to SNGPL’s Lahore regional chief, the authorities plugged the service lanes supplying gas to the restaurants to avoid any leakage that might cause any incident on the eve or even before the PSL final.

LWMC: More than 100 sanitary staff of the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) have been deployed at Qadhafi Stadium for better cleanliness arrangements during the PSL final.

They will remain on duty till the end of the match, says LWMC Managing Director Bilal Mustafa Syed.
