KOHAT: A tribesman killed his daughter along with her alleged paramour inside his home in Kharmato village on Rawalpindi road here on Thursday.

A statement issued from the office of district police officer said that a tribesman identified as Ghazi Janan of Orakzai Agency was residing here for two decades along with other tribal families. It said that the accused (Janan) had a suspicion of his daughter having illicit relations with a young tribesman. It quoted him as saying following his arrest that he had been asking the man to leave his daughter alone, but he instead had been demanding her hand which was refused.

The statement said that on Thursday afternoon when he (Janan) came back to his home from bazaar he found both his daughter and the man inside a room of the house and shot both of them dead.

After knowing about the incident, the Bilitang police reached the scene and found the alleged killer standing besides the bodies. The accused was arrested and shifted to the police station.

The bodies were taken to the Women and Children Hospital, Kohat, from where they were handed over to the relatives. The police registered a double murder case under Section 302 against Ghazi Janan and have started investigations.

He would be produced before a judge on Friday (today) for remand.
