Child killed in explosion

KHAR: A child was killed and four other people were injured when a remote-controlled explosive device struck a vehicle in the hilly areas of Bajaur Agency on Friday.

Administration officials and residents of the area said the explosion took place at about 8am some 20km east of Khar.

Government contractor Nasir Khan’s children were on way to school in a pick-up when the explosive device hit their vehicle in the Tauheedabad area.

Officials said Sudis Ahmed, a child, was killed on the spot and four other people, including the driver, were injured in the blast.

Residents of the area took the injured to the agency headquarters hospital in Khar for treatment.
