The International Cricket Council (ICC) Monday placed Pakistan on 6th position in its Test ranking chart, down one step, as New Zealand replaced the country, reported ICC.
"New Zealand has overtaken Pakistan to go up to fifth position in the MRF Tyres ICC Test Rankings after completing a 2-0 win over Bangladesh in their two-match series which culminated in Christchurch," said the report.

According to the ranking, New Zealand, which had won the first Test in Wellington by seven wickets, has gained two points to move up to 98 points. It is now one point ahead of sixth-placed Pakistan and three behind England in the rankings lead by India with 120 points.
The ranking chart revealed that India is currently placed first with 120 points, Australia is second with 109, South Africa is third with 107 points, England is fourth with 101 points. New Zealand and Pakistan stood fifth and sixth with 98 and 97 points respectively.
Sri Lanka stands at seventh ranking with 92 points, followed by West Indies with 69 points. Bangladesh, which started the series at 65 points, has slipped to 62 points to complete a forgettable tour of New Zealand to stand at 9th ranking.
Zimbabwe was ranked 10th with five points.

This was very much predictable. There was only 1 match winning bowler Yasir Shah, once he was out of form the bowling became totally ineffective.

its agreed Pakistan is not a bad test team, however when u have many overseas tours u r bound to slide lower considering the difficulties in conditions - India will have similar downturn when they start travelling - South Africa seems best equipped to handle alien conditions overall

My Pakistani friends do not like the fact that staying at the top requires that you perform on a consistent basis. But, of late Pakistan is anything but consistent. A major overhaul is required and that meant new people who bring in new ideas. That will not happen as the patron-in-chief himself is in precarious situation.

The more I read "Pakistan were No 1", "Pakistan were No 1", the more I want to puke... arrey bhai, you guys were No 1 BY DEFAULT.
The last WI-India Test in India's WI tour was washed off without a ball being played. As a result, India LOST two points, and fell behind Pakistan by one solitary point, and that's how Pakistan became No 1.
You guys take pride in THAT?

Indian reluctance to play with Pakistan may be politically inspired, but there are plenty of other strong international teams to play against. If we really look for the root causes, it is clear that the terror attack on the visiting Sri Lankan team began the downfall of Pakistani Cricket. Home ground advantage disappeared because other teams stopped visiting. One by one the opportunities to compete with international teams dwindled down. When you are obliged to routinely play overseas or on neutral territory, your own motivation suffers, and your financial reserves decline. With little money to invest in the sport, the downward spiral gets worse. Given such realities, how correct is it to blame a single entity like PCB for the fall of Pakistani Cricket? Would any other composition of the PCB really make a drastic difference? I doubt it. There is much more basic clean up required, possibly way beyond PCB's mandate. I feel sad for the enormous Cricket talent being wasted.

first thing first... to improve rankings, pakistan should first try and improve their fielding. A school team fields better than pakistan international team. Without good fielding their bowlers are losers, because their fielders cannot hang on to catches.

Rankings are also strange. 5 games loosing streak bring you down to 6th position while NZ winning 4 games only bumped them up by 1 spot :)

They lose or win,but they always have good batters who could post good totals on the board.
Pakistani batsmen good for nothing and fielding ????????? I don't have words to describe it.We should look at ourselves not India.We lost to WI in the last test of the series.

Pakistan has been playing outside only for the last few years. Home ground test matches will give Pakistani cricketers, good confidence to face the overseas players than facing them in their home ground.It is high time that the PCB organises home tests, apart from tours.

I am an Indian but i say this to you, my friends from Pakistan - The interiors and by-lanes of Pakistan are seeping with young raw talent. Rough diamonds who play in the burning sun and biting cold without protective gear, bowling faster than the current pathetic freeloaders in the National Team. Where do you think you guys discovered the greatest possible fast bowler Wasim Akram, one of the greatest allrounders ever, Imran Khan, a magician called Abdul Qadir, elegance par excellence in Zaheer Abbas, the toughest cricketer ever born Javed Miandad, the tearaway and terrifying pace of Shoaib Akhtar? The difference is that PCB was then administered by men who were committed to your nation and the game, men who took fierce pride in the Pakistan flag and the Pakistani spirit, in place of the greedy and nepotical hustlers you have now.
Someone, somewhere must stand up and start the wave which will become the tsunami that changes Pakistan cricket and make it stand proud again. .

We indians like pakistan team next to ours. So when the lose miserably we also comment negatively like you but being indian, it is taken otherwise. We want pak team to be as best as ours and so we can have a real competition to top the table.
