Jannat Jahannum Aur Doosray Afsanay
A. Khayyam
After publishing his first short story in 1962, the author brought out a collection in 1993, then in 2005. In this, his third collection, some stories are similar to posts shared on social media, such as about the elderly lady who is moved into a care home. Others are in sync with current affairs, such as the tale of a radicalised university professor murdered by his own wife.
Mind Conquest: The Power of Ideas
Faheem Sardar
After CEO at 34 and The New Finance Construct, the author’s new book discusses the idea that the mind is central to everything in one’s existence. To explain how to conquer the mind he references psychology, sociology, and history, and while anyone may take advantage of the ideas within, the style of writing will resonate with readers interested in corporate management.
Dhalti Jaey Raen
Shahzad Niaz
The term ‘haiku’ is not often associated with Pakistani poetry, but Niaz remains true to the original Japanese style of three lines and 17 syllables with his Urdu haiku, which are separated into three sections: hamdiah [in praise of Allah], naatiah [in praise of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)], while the third section tabba zaad [original] concerns other diverse subjects.
