The term ‘haiku’ is not often associated with Pakistani poetry, but Niaz remains true to the original Japanese style of three lines and 17 syllables with his Urdu haiku, which are separated into three sections: hamdiah [in praise of Allah], naatiah [in praise of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)], while the third section tabba zaad [original] concerns other diverse subjects.
