GUJRAT: The land revenue department has identified 22 acre for the establishment of a model cattle market along the Gujrat-Sargodha road.
The Punjab government has already approved the estimated cost of the project, which is around Rs350 million and acquisition of the land will be completed this month.
Approval of the site as well as the land was accorded at an official meeting attended by senior officials of the district administration and managing director (MD) of Gujranwala division cattle markets besides local landowners.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Irfan Ali Kathia briefed the meeting that the model market would include modern facilities whereas the MD would visit the Sarai Alamgir cattle market to propose measures for facilitation of the visitors.
CENSUS: The federal government’s department of statistics has divided Gujrat district into 2,363 blocks for proposed census, which will be completed in two phases. Deployment of the staff will be completed by Jan 15.
Deputy Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chattha while briefing reporters said that assistant commissioners of Gujrat, Kharian and Sarai Alamgir would be district officers census who would be assisted by officials of provincial census department.
He said the district had been divided among 47 charge circles and each charge into 374 circles. These circles would consist of 2,363 blocks each of which would comprise 200 to 250 households.
He added that completion of the census within the stipulated time was compulsory; the first three days would be allocated to family census and the remaining 11 to individual census.
As per government directions, the staff would be trained for the census from Jan 24.
The first phase of the census would be held from March 15 to April 15 and the second from April 25 to May 25.
