Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his children on Tuesday submitted documents in the Supreme Court (SC) notifying a change of counsel in the Panamagate case.

The documents were filed by the respondents' respective counsels.

According to the documents, Advocate Makhdoom Ali Khan will now represent PM Nawaz in court instead of Salman Aslam Butt.

Hassan and Hussain Nawaz will be represented by Salman Akram Raja, while Maryam Nawaz will be represented by Shahid Hamid.

The PM's children were previously represented by Advocate Akram Shaikh.

Separately, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) submitted additional evidence in the SC.

A 40-page document containing the findings of an investigation conducted by British investigative agencies and Mossack Fonseca was submitted to the court by PTI's team.

The evidence reportedly contains emails exchanged by Mossack Fonseca and Minerva Services which shed new light on the case.

These developments came a day before the Panamagate case hearing resumes in front of the SC's newly appointed five-member larger bench headed by Senior Justice Naveed Khosa.

It is all clear that Nawaz Shareef is involved. His children were 18-20 years old at that time. Everyone knows now it is upto Supreme Court. If they believe in Justice it is not that hard otherwise....Most people say nothing will happen, they have such a mistrust in country's system and it is true that powerful cannot be punished in Pak.

Patriotic Jan 03, 2017 04:46pm

Noose tightening

Dr. SalariA, Aamir Ahmad Jan 03, 2017 04:55pm

By hook or by crook, they want to prove themselves as innocent.

What a serious joke?

Iftikhar Husain Jan 03, 2017 05:00pm

More truth coming out keep the pressure on the PM and family they have enjoyed a lot at home and abroad.

Kam Jan 03, 2017 04:59pm

@javed malik what about NS father? He was running all the businesses not NS. PTI needs to prove that this all related to PM not his father. So far everything goes to Mian Shareef who is long dead. if he was alive then this case was close first day.

Harmony-1© Jan 03, 2017 05:00pm

Change the leadership instead. Changing lawyers will not work now!!!

DIL DIL PAKISTAN, toronto, canada Jan 03, 2017 05:00pm

Nawaz Sharif, please GO and let this poor nation move forward. Enough is enough, Truth will win the day eventually.

@Patriotic "Noose tightening". But around what? Pakistan does not have rope long enough to fit powerful necks.

T.m.khan Jan 03, 2017 05:20pm

Open shut case, unless corrupt individuals prove it otherwise.

Illim din Jan 03, 2017 05:30pm

Is IK running an investigative agency? He seem to be in hurry to become PM. Ego involved.

Jamil Jan 03, 2017 05:31pm

All Pakistani institutions have failed to dispense justice due to political influence and corruption.

muhammad usman khan Jan 03, 2017 05:29pm

Let the game begin.

Kasamali Jan 03, 2017 05:31pm

@DIL DIL PAKISTAN, toronto, canada : Delhi is very far. Don't be joyous at this stage. As case proceeds, many ups and downs will come. Hold your breath and final opinion till that time.

It is an inborn right of the client to change lawyer or lawyers so from that point I dare not raise my eye brows.

Mohammed Jan 03, 2017 05:52pm

@Illim din He wouldn't need to if we didn't have a incompetent PM.

IB Jan 03, 2017 06:10pm

@Illim din .. No one else has the courage to rise up against the corrupt ruler mafia in this country. its time that every one should rise up against this nexus of corruption and not just IK.. He is fighting alone against the corrupt and so all of the corrupt elite are ganging up against IK.. This has nothing to do with IK trying to become the PM.. It is just a matter of being right!

isb Jan 03, 2017 06:13pm

@Illim din Corrupts like you shouldn't be commenting here.

KHALID YOUSAFZAI (UK) Jan 03, 2017 06:20pm

nothing will ever happen with this "ignorable" change ,

Skeptic Jan 03, 2017 06:20pm

Changing lawyers in the middle of the proceedings, tells me their defense is weak and their original lawyer disagreed with their stance or strategy.

Stay tuned. It could get very interesting in 2017.

Hopefully we wont me talking about Sharifs in 2018.

khanm Jan 03, 2017 06:27pm

@Dr. SalariA, Aamir Ahmad ...To those who abuse: the sin is yours, the crime is yours, and the shame is yours. To those who protect the perpetrators: blaming the victims only masks the evil within, making you as guilty as those who abuse. Stand up for the innocent or go down with the rest.

khanm Jan 03, 2017 06:29pm

@Iftikhar Husain ... Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty and truth and compassion against injustice and lying and greed. If people all over the world...would do this, it would change the earth...

khanm Jan 03, 2017 06:37pm

@Skeptic a man with lots and lots of money can do miracles especially if the society which is not based on any moral or any values....

zahiduddin Jan 03, 2017 06:46pm

What about Javed Hashmi's revelations about Imran Khan and his failed coup attempt. I think Supreme Court should take suo moto notice and conduct full investigation.

Hyder Jan 03, 2017 06:53pm

There is a saying in Urdu that states that" no matter whatever one does to hide truth,it always comes out"

Truth always lay bare from the thousand layers of lies and deceit!!!

M. Malik Jan 03, 2017 07:02pm

@khanm - And I will tell you when someone with 'lots and lots of money' could not create a miracle...

Aristotle Onasis was once the richest shipping tycoon in the World around the 70s-80s. He owned several islands around Greece, as well as the sole owner of Olympic Airways at that time. His wealth attracted the widow of JFK - Jackie Kennedy. Yet, he saw his only son, die right in front of him, in a tragic plane crash but could do nothing. His enormous wealth could not buy him any miracle.

Speaking of Greece, the mythical King Midas craved gold and could not get enough of it. Everything he touched turned to Gold. In the Midas touch turned into a curse for him, and he could not even save his own daughter.

Money can never buy you happiness, nor any miracles.

Jamil Jan 03, 2017 07:12pm

@khanm If the outcome is positive and good for the people and state, that's fine. I was trying to highlight the negative aspects of institutions being used by corrupt political mafia in their desire to cling to power at any cost.

Merchant Jan 03, 2017 07:27pm

PM Sharif and family can run but they cannot hide!! They will be brought to justice eventually.

BAXAR Jan 03, 2017 07:28pm

@Skeptic "Hopefully we wont me talking about Sharifs in 2018."Yes most probably, you won't dare even talking about them.

Skeptic Jan 03, 2017 07:34pm

@BAXAR - We won't be talking about Sharif's in 2018, because hopefully they will not be able to win a re-election or implicated in Panama Gate!.

Got it!?? Dare you!

Nadeem Jan 03, 2017 07:34pm

@zahiduddin It really baffles me, as to why we are so naive. In trying to defend someone, we are in essence exposing them. Each time Khan raises an objection at the system, the diehard fans of N, start counting bad people standing on khan's left and right side. If tareen or Aleem are also corrupt, the government has FIA and FBR that works under its jurisdiction. Simply handcuff them and lock them up, try them and ban them if found guilty. Same goes for Hashmi's tirade. Why is government not using its machinery to unearth the truth and put the perpetrators behind bars, be it Khan or anyone.

Truth Jan 03, 2017 07:38pm

Most people say nothing will happen. This shows the level of such a mistrust in country's system and it is true that powerful cannot be punished in Pak.

Athar Sherwani Jan 03, 2017 07:39pm

IK & his supporters always talk about "open & shut" case but when it comes down to proving it he comes to court with newspaper cuttings! Anyway it keeps his supporters hooked on till 2018 elections. Oh, I must not mention this date!

Sami Ullah Swati Jan 03, 2017 07:45pm

Any PMLn stalwart to explain change of council as they did for PTI on social media as a sign of failure.

imran ali Jan 03, 2017 08:08pm

IK can't win elections the normal way and PTI show of their progress and governing achievements.

Delay tactics by PM and his siblings.

Sab Se Pehle Pakistan Jan 03, 2017 08:59pm

These are just delaying tactics from PML-N. The entire nation is looking towards honourable Supreme Court for justice in Panama Leaks. We cannot afford corruption in our country anymore.

Philosopher(from japan) Jan 03, 2017 09:03pm

I know NS is guilty but still I seriously doubt the emails can be considered concrete proofs in the court.

Sab Se Pehle Pakistan Jan 03, 2017 09:12pm

These are just delaying tactics from PML-N and nothing else. Even a child knows the truth.

LAHORI KID Jan 03, 2017 09:30pm

Lets not get ahead of it all just yet, so far, new evidence has been submitted. The guilt still has to be proved beyond any reasonable doubt, the Supreme Court has to be able to define the guilt or innocence in a clear manner. Lets wait before jumping to conclusions.

pk Jan 03, 2017 09:33pm

@rashid nasim We all should pray for this.

Jamil Jan 03, 2017 09:37pm

@Philosopher(from japan) A nonsensical statement

Muslim Medina Jan 03, 2017 09:40pm

Panamagate is an important issue. I do not understand why Chief Justice of Pakistan is not conducting the hearings.

Stark Jan 03, 2017 10:02pm

@isb talk about your own self. No need to point fingers at others and passing judgement. IK is desperate to be PM whether you admit it or not.

Scary Jan 03, 2017 10:37pm

The case in judiciary is different to the case in public. We should only accept what the judges decide. Everything else is rumors and innuendoes. If you go strictly by law and facts. Nawaz Shariff is completely innocent but this will be very hard for people to accept. Specially those who listen to people like Sheikh Rashid.

Alba Jan 04, 2017 12:46am

@javed malik ..... The Supreme Court justices are from the same upper class. They don't convict their own.

Alba Jan 04, 2017 12:48am

@zaidi, Iqbal hadi .... They can keep changing lawyers until the national election has come and gone.

ADNAN MAZHER khan Jan 04, 2017 01:39am

Let the court decide and InshaAllah; they will.

M Jamal Jan 04, 2017 02:09am

The path to economic growth and stability of the country will begin once the court put the corrupts behind the bar irrespective their position.

Fazal Karim Jan 04, 2017 05:57am

In Pakistan democracy votes have to be bought, it requires money so what is wrong in making money through any mean.

asif Jan 04, 2017 05:58am

I wonder how can good lawyers like mentioned try to prove these people innocent?

S.R.H. Hashmi Jan 04, 2017 07:03am

We observe that small-time thieves and pick-pockets, who may have committed the crime out of desperate need and not due to greed, are arrested and thrown in prison, normally after a thorough beating by the public. Yet our leaders who indulge in massive corruption and grab even the funds reserved for the poorest of the poor, do not receive similar treatment.

And to make it worse, the legal experts from 'respectable' background come to the rescue of such corrupt leaders, a whole array of them waiting to be picked up to save their ill-gotten wealth. And yet these essential links in the shameful corruption continue to be treated with respect even though they are prompted by insatiable greed and not need. They do it for a fat fee to enhance their huge bank balance and to add to their list of assets. And for this sum, they feel no hesitation and willingly throw over twenty crore people down the drain, feeling no remorse for it at all.

Isn't it shameful; just asking?
