PM, children change counsel again, PTI submits new evidence in Panamagate case

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his children on Tuesday submitted documents in the Supreme Court (SC) notifying a change of counsel in the Panamagate case.

The documents were filed by the respondents' respective counsels.

According to the documents, Advocate Makhdoom Ali Khan will now represent PM Nawaz in court instead of Salman Aslam Butt.

Hassan and Hussain Nawaz will be represented by Salman Akram Raja, while Maryam Nawaz will be represented by Shahid Hamid.

The PM's children were previously represented by Advocate Akram Shaikh.

Separately, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) submitted additional evidence in the SC.

A 40-page document containing the findings of an investigation conducted by British investigative agencies and Mossack Fonseca was submitted to the court by PTI's team.

The evidence reportedly contains emails exchanged by Mossack Fonseca and Minerva Services which shed new light on the case.

These developments came a day before the Panamagate case hearing resumes in front of the SC's newly appointed five-member larger bench headed by Senior Justice Naveed Khosa.

It is all clear that Nawaz Shareef is involved. His children were 18-20 years old at that time. Everyone knows now it is upto Supreme Court. If they believe in Justice it is not that hard otherwise....Most people say nothing will happen, they have such a mistrust in country's system and it is true that powerful cannot be punished in Pak.

@javed malik what about NS father? He was running all the businesses not NS. PTI needs to prove that this all related to PM not his father. So far everything goes to Mian Shareef who is long dead. if he was alive then this case was close first day.

@Illim din .. No one else has the courage to rise up against the corrupt ruler mafia in this country. its time that every one should rise up against this nexus of corruption and not just IK.. He is fighting alone against the corrupt and so all of the corrupt elite are ganging up against IK.. This has nothing to do with IK trying to become the PM.. It is just a matter of being right!

Changing lawyers in the middle of the proceedings, tells me their defense is weak and their original lawyer disagreed with their stance or strategy. Stay tuned. It could get very interesting in 2017. Hopefully we wont me talking about Sharifs in 2018.

@zahiduddin It really baffles me, as to why we are so naive. In trying to defend someone, we are in essence exposing them. Each time Khan raises an objection at the system, the diehard fans of N, start counting bad people standing on khan's left and right side. If tareen or Aleem are also corrupt, the government has FIA and FBR that works under its jurisdiction. Simply handcuff them and lock them up, try them and ban them if found guilty. Same goes for Hashmi's tirade. Why is government not using its machinery to unearth the truth and put the perpetrators behind bars, be it Khan or anyone.

Lets not get ahead of it all just yet, so far, new evidence has been submitted. The guilt still has to be proved beyond any reasonable doubt, the Supreme Court has to be able to define the guilt or innocence in a clear manner. Lets wait before jumping to conclusions.

The case in judiciary is different to the case in public. We should only accept what the judges decide. Everything else is rumors and innuendoes. If you go strictly by law and facts. Nawaz Shariff is completely innocent but this will be very hard for people to accept. Specially those who listen to people like Sheikh Rashid.

We observe that small-time thieves and pick-pockets, who may have committed the crime out of desperate need and not due to greed, are arrested and thrown in prison, normally after a thorough beating by the public. Yet our leaders who indulge in massive corruption and grab even the funds reserved for the poorest of the poor, do not receive similar treatment. And to make it worse, the legal experts from 'respectable' background come to the rescue of such corrupt leaders, a whole array of them waiting to be picked up to save their ill-gotten wealth. And yet these essential links in the shameful corruption continue to be treated with respect even though they are prompted by insatiable greed and not need. They do it for a fat fee to enhance their huge bank balance and to add to their list of assets. And for this sum, they feel no hesitation and willingly throw over twenty crore people down the drain, feeling no remorse for it at all. Isn't it shameful; just asking? Karachi.
