The president and vice president of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce were elated after a sum of over Rs0.5 million stolen from their house was recovered by Lahore police within 24 hours, it emerged Monday.
Chinese citizen Robin, expressing his happiness, said he felt safe in Pakistan.
"From this case, our status is that now Pakistan is not a terrorist country... it is a safe country," he said.
He also presented a bouquet of flowers to Assistant Superintendent of Police Anoosh Masood at Defence Police Station.
"There was a robbery at the Chinese house, an FIR was lodged at night and within 24 hours the money was recovered," the ASP told DawnNews.
"We traced the culprits and made a full recovery in a technical manner," she said.
According to police, domestic employees of the officials were involved in the robbery and have been arrested.
Further investigation is underway and the accused will be presented in court once it is completed.

@Jawad It is not a face saving measure. In such robbery case the first suspect that comes to police mind is usually domestic worker employed in the house. All they had to do was to track them either by watching thier family movement or tapping their phones through GPS.

Agreed with Jawad, our police can do wonders if they want to. They just don't want to or dont have necessary permissions to do so. Not forgetting that this is the same police which sometimes refuses to register fir for not so connected people.

Because they were Chinese and President and Vice President of Chinese Chamber of Commerce that is why 'recovery' happened so quickly. Had the money was stolen from a common person no recovery would have ever happened. I doubt they have actually recovered the money, Punjab government to show the efficiency of Punjab Police and register Punjab as a safe place might have given the money from Punjab exchequer.

Our stolen car was retrieved by policemen within hours of being stolen in Lahore.
We did not use any connections or spent any money, yet the police still did their job.
