Musharraf briefed

ISLAMABAD, Dec 18: President Gen Pervez Musharraf on Thursday asked Interior Minister Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat to ensure foolproof security for people and institutions in the country, a source in the interior ministry told Dawn.

In a briefing given by the interior minister, the president expressed concern over the overall security arrangements in the country, the source said.

The president was apprised about the progress made in the preliminary investigation into the last Sunday explosion in Rawalpindi.

The minister briefed the president about the steps being taken for ensuring security during the Saarc summit scheduled to be held in the first week of January.

Issues relating to the implementation of the Police Order, 2002, and overall security in the country were also discussed.
