Lt Gen Shahid Baig Mirza posted as Corps Commander Karachi

Lt Gen Shahid Baig Mirza has been posted as the new Corps Commander Karachi, said a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

General Mirza was previously posted as Military Secretary at the General Headquarters Rawalpindi.

The post left vacant by Lieutenant General Mirza will be taken over by Lt Gen Ghayur Mehmood.

Mehmood was presently posted as the Chief of Logistic Staff (CLS) at the GHQ.

LT Gen Mirza was also the Colonel Commandant of the Punjab Regiment.

Earlier in November, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has finalised the selection of two senior army officers as Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee (CJCSC).

A career infantry officer belonging to the Baloch Regiment, Lt Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa was appointed as the new COAS, while Lt Gen Zubair Hayat was appointed the CJCSC.
